Changes to COVID-19 protocol at Country Animal Hospital as of 3/25/2020
As the situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to change, we are continually adapting our protocols to maintain the safety of both our staff and clientele. This is a stressful time for everyone, but as veterinarians are deemed “essential workers”, our intent is to continue serving the pets in our community as long as we can stay healthy. In light of this, our plan going forward is this:
- Once you arrive for your appointment, please call us (802-234-5999), or knock on the door to let us know you’ve arrived
- The door into the front vestibule will be unlocked, and you will need to drop off your pet in this area.
- Cats MUST be in carriers – if you do not have one, we will lend one to you, just ask! These can be used for small dogs too.
- Dogs will need to have on one of our slip leads (located to the side of the main door), and there is a new tie ring on the left side of the vestibule on which to hook them. Please take your leash with you.
- Once your animal is secure in the vestibule, please back out of the vestibule, and as soon as you have done so, our staff member will retrieve the pet from the space
- For any transfer of paperwork – documents to be signed, or money in the form of cash or a check – there is a clipboard hanging inside the vestibule to the right of the inside door
- Please try to use your own pen, as we will need to disinfect every object touched!
- We are minimizing the number of technician appointments going forward to allow our staff to focus on urgent and emergency care
- Unfortunately our end of life care protocol also needs to change to comply with the Governor’s mandate of social distancing. This is a heart breaking decision for all of us. Please talk to one of our staff members if you are considering this option in the near future
We understand these are all a drastic change from our usual emphasis on close contact with our beloved pet clients and their compassionate and loyal two legged family members. At the heart of our hospital is the desire to be an empathetic and caring place that continually contributes to our closeknit community. That has not changed in the slightest, and we very much appreciate our clients’ support as we all weather this COVID storm together.
