Nitro came to us as a stray on October 30th, 2007. We believe sent by our previous kitty “Madame Crunchy”. He was adopted out once, only to be returned to us with the statement “he’s too needy”. Needy as he was, Nitro quickly found his place, usually on top of the front desk, or on a bed set up for him in the chart room, and into all of our hearts. Nothing seemed to phase him, leading him to almost be a “scooby snack” on multiple occasions. He ruled the roost, and had many at his beck and call for treats and cuddles – on his terms of course!
Nitro, may you always have a warm, comfy bed, endless treats and a friendly touch to make you purr.
We will miss you, always!
Forever in our hearts,
Your CAH Family.
Jessica Englund Jones grew up outside Concord, New Hampshire surrounded by animals in a small rural community. She spent much of her childhood on horseback, eventing at many of the farms that she eventually would return to as a vet! She attended Williams College in MA, and graduated with a major in psychology. After a year “off” to work as a vet assistant in Uganda, Dr Jones attended Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, MA. In 2000, she graduated with a DVM and an interest in working with horses as well as cats and dogs. For five years, she split her time between equine farm calls and small animals in NH & VT. Before settling down permanently, Dr Jones accepted a one-year position as a sole practitioner at a small animal veterinary clinic in Auckland, New Zealand. Returning home, Dr Jones was hired for an associate position “with ownership potential” at Country Animal Hospital in the spring of 2006. In November 2012, Dr Jones was extremely fortunate to be able to purchase CAH from it’s former owner. Since then, she has very much enjoyed getting to be a part of this tight- knit community and to meet so many people that love having pets as part of their family. Jess is married to Andrew (who provides IT support to the clinic!), and they have three very active children, two dogs, a cat, three horses, and cows during the grass-growing months. Outside of work and family time, Jess can usually be found riding her horse, playing any sport but most particularly soccer or ice hockey, or attending a church function.

Lynne Martin received a BS in zoology from Colorado State University then worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife as a field biologist for 3 years. An interest in wildlife diseases led her back to CSU for her DVM. As a veterinary student she continued to work with wildlife disease projects and interned for a semester at the Denver Zoo. After graduation she entered private practice for 10 years in New Hampshire to work with exotic pets as well as cats and dogs. In 1993 she left private practice to work for a year at the Wildlife Center of Virginia where she had the opportunity to work with many east coast species including bobcats, black bears and raptors – even a cougar kitten. Once again back in the northeast, Lynne settled in Barnard where she joined the team at Country Animal Hospital and volunteered her services to VINS (Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences), caring for injured and captive raptors. She has been with Country Animal Hospital since 1994 and continues to enjoy seeing the non-traditional pets. She lives on her small sheep farm with her husband and two kitties.

Taelor has been called the “dog whisperer” ever since she was a teenager. She grew up in Florida with her best friend, Moose the Chocolate Lab, where they both helped their neighbors train and rehabilitate their dogs. To her core, she believes there is no such thing as a bad dog. After COVID, Taelor and her wife, Niki, packed up what they could in an RV and left Florida with their 3 rescues: Montie the Boston Terrier (RIP), Mika the 13 year old Parti-Pom, and their newest addition, Big Mac, who is a 80lb 11 year old Pitbull. Through their travels in the south, Taelor worked at an animal shelter in Tennessee where she cared for over 50 dogs. Taelor’s passion is to have a sustainable homestead farm and a safe place for LGBTQ+ people to go if displaced or in need of shelter. She believes our generation has the ability and responsibility to make our already connected world a more hopeful, stable, and peaceful place. Outside of homesteading, Taelor loves being handy, playing basketball, and anything on a board: paddle, skate, surf, snow. And of course, spending time with her wife, friends and animals out in nature.
